2 Farms in 2 Days
On the weekend of February 27-28th, the school communities of Richmond High School and Kennedy High School will be building 2 school “farms” in 2 days! These farms will grow food that directly changes the food landscape of the families in the schools of Richmond. And best of all, the farms will be built by the students, teachers, parents and community members surrounding the schools. These “farms” will accompany Urban Agriculture Institutes at both schools where students will learn not only how to manage the farms, but earn graduation credit, learn better nutrition and build and beautify the school community. Please help us fundraise for the material and labor costs to make these “farms” a reality. Richmond and Kennedy High will be the first High Schools in California to run a food production program that is student centered, service oriented, and entirely focused on producing healthy food that feeds the community from which it came. Support that premise and begin to bring change to our public schools.
We have many ways in which to support this endeavor. Please choose a product-level that you are comfortable with and will help moves us towards our goal of $80,000 by February 27th. Thank you.
Sponsor Our Farms
1 sq ft of the Farm
For a donation of $5 you can sponsor 1 square foot of the farm.
Every square foot will produce 3 pounds of produce for the Richmond community. Buy 10 square feet and provide 50 pounds of produce/year for a West County family.
Garden Tools
We will need a number of shovels, rakes, hoes, pitch forks, axes, trowels, post diggers and other garden tools in order to operate the farms.
A donation of $25 to Urban Tilth buys one of these necessary tools.
1 cubic yard of Compost!
Until we are able to produce enough of our own rich home grown compost, we will need to supply the farms with over 100 cubic yards of compost.
